First, a reminder: I’m doing some bookstore readings-conversations-Q&As in California this week to celebrate the paperback edition of Lou Reed: The King of New York. Come out & say hi:
—Tuesday 10/22 (7 pm) at Pegasus Books Downtown (2349 Shattuck Avenue) in Berkeley CA w/ my pal and fellow author/historian Pat Thomas.
—Friday 10/25 (7 pm) at Book Soup in Los Angeles CA w/my pal, fellow author, and longtime music journalism comrade Craig Marks (LA Times, SPIN, Blender, etc.)
—Monday 10/28 (6 pm) at Village Well Books & Coffee in Culver City, CA w/ my pal, fellow writer and esteemed archival record producer Andy Zax (Nico, John Cale, Woodstock: Back To The Garden).
If you’d like a signed copy of the book (hardcover or paperback) but can’t make the events, you can pre-order from Book Soup in LA and request a signed copy in the comments window (right below where you enter the payment info on the order form) — they’ll mail one right out to you, wherever you are. Order a copy of my first book, Love Goes To Buildings On Fire, and I’ll sign that, too.
Last Sunday I caught Jeff Tweedy at the Bearsville Theater, just outside of Woodstock, NY — sacred ground for elder statesmen of song, which is exactly what Tweedy has become. It was a sold-out show near where I live, in a historic room with magnificent sound, filled with old friends and new. (Among the latter: ace Philly-based music photographer Chris Sikich, who was kind enough to let me post the fine shot up top. Check out his Instagram — great stuff.)
